This one is probably not true. But when I was growing up I heard so many stories about the dog catchers sacrificing the dogs on new bridges.
I did some research on the internet and found there have been incidents of rumors being spread about sacrifices for new bridges in Madras (Chennai) in the past. But this story is more of an urban legend.
